The Bf 110C was the first version of the Bf 110 to be equipped with Daimler Benz engines. At the altitudes it had to operate at in order to protect the bombers, it would prove to be increasingly vulnerable to British and later American fighter aircraft due to its lack of manoeuvrability. The ‘D’ version came with additional fuel tanks for increased range.
