The Pacific theater of operations was a bitter campaign for Allied forces as they pressed fanatical Japanese defenders back towards their homeland. By the end of WWII, the Pacific War had resulted in the deaths of some 6 million soldiers and 18 million civilians. The US Marine Corps was at the forefront of the conflict on numerous occasions, and their roll of honor includes bloody battles such as the invasions of Guadalcanal, Saipan, the Philippines, Iwo Jima and Okinawa. The important role played by the US Marines is commemorated in a 1/35 scale set from Orange Box. The set includes an LVT-4 and US Marine figures. The LVT-4, also referred to as the Water Buffalo, had a ramp at the rear to allow troops to disembark after the amphibious vehicle had swum ashore. With a total of 8,351 LVT-4 vehicles produced, it was the most common version of the LVT family.
