A new era of long haul passenger air travel was inaugurated in October 2007 with the entry into airline service of the A380. The A380 is the most advanced, spacious and eco-efficient airliner in service today. In a typical three-class, 525-seat configuration, it delivers noticeably more comfort while offering 40 per cent more capacity than the next largest airliner. In addition, the advanced materials and systems of the A380, together with state-of-the-art aerodynamics and all-new engines, result in outstanding economics, superior performance and high operational flexibility - delivering 20 percent lower operating costs per seat than current aircraft in its category. The Reveal of the A380 on 18 January 2005 marked the launch of Airbus' new livery. The change in livery was the first for Airbus since introduction of the A320. The A380 was the first aircraft to display the company's new colours that reflect not only Airbus' current market position but also its ambitions to pursue aviation excellence long into the future.
