The new Ferrari California was shown for the first time in public in october 2008. This super sports car has some unexpected novelties: apart from the newly implemented Formula 1 technics, the 8-cylinder engine now sits in the front where until now the larger, 12-cylinder engines used to be installed. The car also has a folding rooftop which retracts into the boot within 14 seconds after pushing a button, transforming the coupa© into an open roadster. Furthermore, the brand new 2 + 2 seater shows some remarkable performances: acceleration from 0 to 100 in less than 4 seconds, maximum speed 321 km/h. This accounts for the 4,3 liter engine with 460 horsepower but also for the large use of aluminium giving the aerodynamic Ferrari an empty weight of just 1625 kilograms.
