| In 1942 the British realised that their tanks had no cannon that were equal to those of the German tanks. Consequently, they developed the Comet, which was used from 1944 onwards. This tank was a good all-rounder with extraordinary manoeuvrability and a remarkably high off-road speed. As it could not be supplied to the troops until very late in World War II it was only used occasionally in Europe.
