The EC145 is a light twin-engine helicopter that was developed by Eurocopter in collaboration with the Japanese firm Kawasaki Heavy Industries. The EC145 received a new fuselage with a roomier cabin, with electronic parts, flight control and navigation systems based on the EC135. The EC145 combines the latest technology, spaciousness and economy to be the best in its class. To research into intelligent avionics which take into account the mental capabilities of man, with processing mechanisms as a type of processor element, a semi-autonomous pilot-assisted system called PILAS is currently being tested. This new system monitors and stores all the data needed to pilot a helicopter together with the actions of the pilot.
