at the beginning of World War 2 that the German Wehrmacht's initial
successes were due to the interaction of tanks and air force, the main
burden of the fighting throughout the war was borne by the ordinary
foot soldier. The German infantry marched from the coast of France to
the vast Soviet Union plains.
