The Eurocopter EC 135, which was launched on the world market in 1996, has developed into the best selling helicopter in its class. The Austrian Ministry of the Interior has put eight EC 135s into service. Thanks to their extensive state-of-the art equipment, these aircraft are suitable for police duties and also for search and rescue. The German police force uses 25 EC 135s as liaison and observation helicopters for frontier security operations.
